From the Director

Rebecca Ebnet-Desens

We often joke that we work with a lot of dead people. It’s true, though - and without ACHS serving as a collective memory, a community scrapbook, and a source of information that could otherwise be forgotten, the stories and traditions of Anoka County would quickly disappear. Every day, we field questions about “what was here?” “Who lived there?” or “how did this come to be?” Thanks to our members and donors, we can provide the answers.

Help Support Local History

How can you help ACHS continue to help the public, answer those questions, and be the place memory is preserved?

  • Tell people about us! Not everyone is aware that ACHS has been a part of celebrating the history of the county since 1934

  • Become a member. Members are our first line of defense to say “we value local history!”

  • Make a monetary donation. While our focus is on the history, funds are needed to keep the heat on, the lights on, and a safe place for the artifacts in our care.

  • Attend our amazing events. There’s a little for everyone. History, ghost, and cemetery tours PLUS special events like the Murder Mystery.
