So many programs, so little time! Local history comes out of the box, and off the shelves in the catalog of ACHS programs. Created using the collections, artifacts, photographs, and stories, each program highlights a different aspect of our story that echoes and resonates with a more extensive, national history. Whether you want an engaging lecture or a more hands-on and interactive program experience, ACHS has a program for you.

Fan Favorites:

Lecture: Rum Runners and Temperance Tantrums explores the national prohibition of alcohol, but reveals the hidden stills and elections that outlawed alcohol in Anoka County four years before the nation.

Museum Box: Reading Artifacts allows kids of any age to sleuth the functions of eight mystery objects and how their use changed over time.

Costumed event: Civil War showcases what it was like to live in the county in the 1860s with a presenter dressed in the best fashion on the day.

For instance, Benedictine Anoka residents watched The Unwise Murder, then heard about the film’s creation in a presentation by Sara Given. They took a behind-the-scenes tour, then explored the logging box before attending another in-person lecture from ACHS staff.
